The awards are presented annually by the Association of Irish Riding Clubs to recognise the sterling efforts of its members who regularly go beyond the call of duty in organising or helping at club, regional or national level.  Four categories of awards are presented annually:
·  Club of the Year
·  Club Secretary of the Year
·  Club Member of the Year
·  Person of the Year

Nominating format
Clubs may submit nominations to their regional secretary, please consult with them for their respective closing date, on the official nomination forms. (See enclosed forms)

Each region will then select a nomination to go forward in the Club, Club Secretary and Club Member award categories.

Individual members may nominate members or non-members for the Person of the Year Award.  These may include a person who has contributed their time and energy to the riding club movement.  These nominations must be submitted directly to National Office.

Please note, short-listed nominees from last year are not eligible for nomination this year and I've enclosed a list for your reference.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi everyone

The following are the teams which will represent Castlecarraig on the 26th May in Benbulben for the Dublin Qualifier.

Aoife Hegarty             Cassy Free                         Intermediate
Lucy Baker                  Mullagh Merry Legs         Intermediate
Martina Corry Spark of Roxton                          Intermediate

Just to fill you all in on what’s happening in the next few weeks .

Team qualifier
The teams for the Dublin qualifier is up for you to view , just note that there is only one team we had to put in another team on paper to insure we had reserves.
There are a few weeks left for training so hopefully all will attend, the training has been prepaid so whether you turn or not the club will have to pay out so we hope you will make the effort to be there.
I will txt you when I get training for the showground’s for the team to see a different set of jumps before you hit Sligo.
Please note however the team is now entered as it appears on the website. There were only five members eligible for selection this year. Four of those members had a horse at the time of selection so those four became the main team, on last Tuesday night the final member was added as a sub as they secured a horse at the last minute.
The only change that can be made to the teams as it stands is within those five members, it’s now too late to add any other member to this selection.
We can replace a team member with our sub up to 30 minutes before the show starts on Sunday the 26th of June.
This will have to be done through the secretary and the number to contact is 087 9919158.
However if you wish you can also contact the chairperson on 086 0824701 if you have any suggestions.
I do know that whatever will be the final four to jump that club and its members will get behind them on the day, good luck to you all.
Catherine O Sullivan will be representing the club at this year’s National festival in Stradbally, we wish her the very best, this will up on the web site closer to the time.
Flat work
We hope to put on some flat work training over the next few weeks we need to set up a time with Angela, Maybe after the qualifier. I would like some feedback on this as some members who don’t jump are asking for this so if you txt 087 9919158 if you interested.

A Number of Major Changes are being Introduced to this years National Dressage Championships.

They include changes to the structure of the team championship while introducing a qualification system for the individual championships.

From this year, clubs will now be permitted to enter teams of three or four riders and these must contain no more than two riders from any one grade representing no less than two grades on the team. Reserves must also be nominated in advance of the qualifier, similar to the team show jumping championship. The number of teams qualifying at each regional qualifier will depend on the number of teams which start on the day of the qualifier. One team for every four teams, or part thereof, will go forward to the championships. Teams, however, may only qualify at their respective regional qualifier.

In the individual classes, the top four rider and horse combinations from the Advanced Primary, Intermediate and Advanced Intermediate classes at each qualifier will go forward to the championships. Individuals, however, may qualify at any of the regional qualifiers. Individual qualification will not be sought for the Primary,Open and Advanced Open championships.

If an individual rider and horse combination has already qualified at a previous qualifier, the next best placed rider will go forward to the final.

Should a qualified team or individual be unable to attend the championship final, the place will not be re-allocated.

It is envisaged that the championship classes will take place on sand at the finals while national classes will take place for those who have not qualified for the individual championships on grass.

A.I.R.C. chairman Tony Ennis said, "when reviewing our dressage championships, we set out with the key objectives to foster and increase participation, add prestige to the championships and allow a potential move to a sand based surface for the championship classes at the finals.""I believe we will achieve our goals with these changes and I'd like to thank the dressage committee and national committee for their valued contributions during our review processes," he added.
